// PERU
Few places in the world are more enchanting, more mysterious, than Peru. A large country, home to deserts that have buried empires, to mountains that form the heart of the Andes, to the most remote jungles and rivers on the planet; one could spend a lifetime exploring all this land has to offer. Similarly, I could write a book on all my adventures, and misadventures here; visiting ancient ruins, Incan outposts, coastal metropolises, and, of course, the Amazon, where I lived for many months, traveling by cargo ships down tributaries of the Amazon River, and finally down the Amazon River itself. In the end, I was stamped out of the country on that fabled river, crossing into the Colombian rain forest by boat. The Amazon basin was flooded, so to reach the immigration office, I had to pull up in a canoe and climb through the window, where the border guard was sitting in a foot of water. Never a dull moment on the road. I only hope the photos below convey a small part of this amazing place.
